I had no clue and never even thought about it until I got this email. It does make you think about trying to make sure your tags are actually relevant, doesn't it. Thanks for responding.

I was wondering if the tags help with search engine placement, and if our discussions show up in search results at other search engines outside of MyLot. I think they do becuase I just got an email from someone who is not a MyLot user. She said she was searching the internet for infomration on treating depression, and came across a discussion here on MyLot (she actually didn't even remember the site name) that I had responded to and she really liked my response. So she visited my profile page here and found the link to my website, then went to my website and used my contact form there to email me. She really wanted more details about how I dealt with my depression. Anyways, I was thrilled to find out that something I posted was a help to someone. We have acutally emailed multiple times now, and that makes me feel great. So, do you think our discussions are put into search engines? How do you think they are put into search engines?Have you had anyone contact you outside of MyLot because of a discussion? Finally, what are your other thoughts on this?

I think it's great that you were able to help someone off the boards - that's a pretty neat story. I have to admit, now I'm a bit concerned about the things I have shared on this board being put on Google and Yahoo. I have shared some things that I do not want my family to know and I just did a google search where one of the discussions came up. :[I'm going to ask Mylot to remove my discussion in this case and I'm going to be a bit more careful about what I share - which kinda sucks because I felt like I had a place where I could vent/share/express myself freely but now I know otherwise. Thank you for sharing your story - I haven't been contacted outside of MyLot by anyone as of yet.

Yea I guess if you don't really want to share everything you post with your family it is kind of discouraging to find out that they could find your posts. It does make you think. I guess there really is no where to share without the possiblilty of it ending up in the search engines. I mean even without trying it seems that websites manange to get on there. I am sorry that you have to watch what you share now. Thanks for responding.

cogratulate that you got an email from outside mylot community. it is great thing that our discussions placed on serch engines and outside users get help from them. i never got email from outsider. but i think we should start more meaningful discussions on mylot which can help people in some way or other. what do u think.

I think that we should concentrate on meaningful discussions whether or not they end up on search engines. Thanks for responding.
